Acupuncture is great alternative treatment to alleviate some Post Concussion symptoms. If you’re unfamiliar with the process Acupuncture can seem a little scary at first but rest assured it is a trusted and safe treatment. Essentially Acupuncture entails sticking tiny needles into different areas of your body. Acupuncture has been shown to reduce headache pain by inducing a release of endorphins. It is also known to treat anxiety, insomnia, stress, pain and it can also help improve blood flow in injured areas.
Yoga and meditation are vastly underestimated in their healing effects. These are incredibly powerful ways of reducing pain, stress and releasing tension in your muscles. Yoga combined with meditation have a natural effect of neutralizing hormones that cause headaches. This was a very powerful technique for my Post Concussion recovery.
Hypnosis has been shown to be effective in managing your pain and stress levels by inducing intense focus techniques that help you self cope. Under hypnosis, you will apply intense focus on clearing your mind and relaxation. Once your mind is clear some people become more suggestible and the hypnotist can then talk through some techniques that may help to manage your thoughts. This may lead to lowering your pain and anxiety levels. It is important to note that results may vary, some people are more susceptible to suggestion than others and some are not suggestible at all.
Chiropractic treatment is one of the treatments I personally used to alleviate my Post Concussion symptoms. Getting a proper Chiropractic alignment can help relieve tension and stress on your muscles and nerves. Seeing a good Chiropractor can really help reduce pain, headaches and even anxiety and stress levels.
Seeing a Behavioral Health specialist like a Psychiatrist or a Psychotherapist can be helpful with managing your pain and stress levels. Psychotherapy has been shown to be very effective for some people suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome.
